Rep. Joe Garcia finally won a seat in the US House after several tries, but Republicans are hell bent on making sure his hold on District 26 is a short one. Though we're still 11 months away from the election, several Republican challengers have already emerged.

Carlos Curbelo, a Miami-Dade school board member and one of those challengers, has now dug up an odd remark Garcia once made about George W. Bush peeing with Mexicans.

Back in 2008, Garcia praised Bush's Hispanic outreach in a PBS documentary. "He'd probably peed by a pickup truck with a Mexican just like anyone else who's been from Texas," is the quote Curbelo pulled from the documentary.

We're not even sure what that means, but Curbelo is sure it's not very Congressmanly.

"If Joe Garcia is willing to make comments like the one below, how is he well-suited to lead on immigration reform?" Curbelo asked in a statement according to Naked Politics.

Garcia responded to Naked Politics by saying that the out-of-context quote wasn't meant to be a slight at Mexicans. Here's the full quote:

"It was an unprecedented effort that yielded unprecedented results. It was the 'I love you' campaign, by George Bush. The ads were called Te Conosco. 'I know you.' And he did. He was from Texas. You know, he--he--he had, you know, he'd probably peed by a pickup truck with a Mexican just like anyone else who's been from Texas. But the reality is, that--that dynamic of knowing these folks--was very powerful."

In any event, the District 26 race is just heating up. Strap in for a long ride.

Joe Garcia ,Ted Cruz and  Mario Diaz-Balart,leana Ros-Lehtinen. marco rubio/other cubans have credibility on immigration issues when they advocates that immigrants from other countries are treated the same as those from their homeland – Cuba. So either grant automatic legal status as soon as they set foot on American soil, or make Cubans go through the same process as any other immigrant. Until then, just another hypocrite.

There should not be a "wet foot, dry foot" policy. Cubans should be subject to the same immigration requirements as any other would be immigrant. No special treatment.
