Krissy Lamadrid, Jason Calderon, and Alex Anaya Arrested in FIU Test-Stealing Ring
The three Florida International University students arrested late last night in a crackdown on a test-answer-stealing ring have been identified as students Krissy Lamadrid, 21, and Jason Calderon, 23, as well as alum Alex Anaya, 30.
The three orchestrated a scheme in which they stole test answers and then sold them for $150 a pop.
According to the Miami Herald, Anaya somehow accessed a professor's email account and then entered a university room without permission to steal answers from five tests. He then recruited Lamadrid and Calderon to sell the tests for about $150 each. When Lamadrid was arrested, she had $860 on her.
Only one class was affected, and the school says the students involved were limited.
"FIU will pursue all avenues to ensure that everyone who is involved is held accountable," read an email sent by the school to students.
Calderon's charges and mugshot were not immediately available.
