Breaking Bad Super Fan Contest Winner Arrested for Running Drug Ring
Earlier this month, police in Florida found a stuffed Walter White doll in a car parked outside a meth house, and now a Florida man who won a fan contest to watch the series finale of Breaking Bad with the cast was arrested for running his very own drug ring.
According to the Naples Daily News, 28-year-old Ryan Lee Carroll of Fort Myers won a Twitter contest in September and flew to Los Angeles to watch the finale with the cast. He made a donation to star Aaron Paul's wife's anti-bullying charity and was subsequently chosen as Paul's guest of honor at the finale party.
"It's highly addicting, just like the meth they make," Carroll said of the show.
Well, according to WTSP, Carroll could apparently identify with White on a deeper level. On Wednesday morning, he was booked into jail on charges of possession of a synthetic narcotic and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
All in all, about $1 million in synthetic marijuana was seized from a home Carroll was renting. Benjamin Smith, 33, and James Lee Smith, 35, were also arrested in the sting.
The group blended the synthetic chemicals in a cement mixer, added various flavors, packaged them in colorful wrappers, and shipped them out of state.
Deputies also seized a hazmat suit signed by the cast of Breaking Bad.
