Florida Teen Couple Tried to Kill Parents Who Kept Them Apart
It's a twisted Florida version of Romeo and Juliet. Except it's the parents who (almost) ended up dead instead of the young lovers.
A 13-year-old girl and her 15-year-old boyfriend near Ocala concocted a plan to kill the girl's parents so the two could be together and it got as far as slashing the mother's neck. Luckily, they had a change of heart and drove the mother to the hospital. However, the teen lovers still face several charges.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Luz Galvez and Jorge Don-Brianes had forbidden their young daughter from seeing her 15-year-old paramour. So the two teens conspired through Facebook chats and phone calls to kill the parents.
The daughter let the boyfriend into the house sometime before 5 a.m. on Sunday morning. She had him take off his shoes, handed him a knife and then hid him in the garage. The girl then went to wake up her mother, Galvez, and told her that she had heard weird noises coming from the garage.
When Galvez went out to check on the garage the boy attacked her. He said he could provide for the girl. He then took the knife and sliced Galvez's neck. Don-Brianes heard the noise and yelled out after his daughter. The boyfriend then went to the bedroom and placed the knife against the father's neck.
Somehow the parents managed to talk the boy out of it. He released the father without harm and then agreed to drive the mother to the hospital but only after the woman promised to allow the teens to continue seeing each other and that she would not sue the boy.
Galvez underwent emergency surgery and was able to survive.
The teens of course didn't immediately fess up to police. They said that a black man had attacked the mother in the garage and they just happened to be nearby. After further questioning the two cracked and confessed their crimes. They've both been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and a count of attempted murder.
