Medical Marijuana: $1 Million Research Bill, "Charlotte's Web" Measure Passes Committee

All signs point toward Floridians approving a medical marijuana proposal on November's ballot, but the legislature could ease the Sunshine State toward some legalized pot all on their own during this month's session.

One measure, which would kick start research funding into medical marijuana and legalize a non-euphoric strain for epilepsy patients, passed through a House committee with no opposition yesterday.

The bill, HB 843, deals with only one special niche in the medical marijuana field: Using strains of pot with low levels of THC -- the chemical that causes users to get high -- to treat children with types of epilepsy that are difficult to treat with traditional medication.

In Colorado, a special cultivation of marijuana named "Charlotte's Web" has helped children deal with epileptic fits.

Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee heard testimony from Florida parents who have traveled to Colorado to try the treatment on their own children. Petyon Moseley told the committee how he'd planned to bring his 11-year-old daughter to the House to talk about her condition but that she'd had to go to the hospital instead after a round of seizures.

"This morning was one of those mornings where we were blessed that she woke up,'' he told the committee, the Miami Herald reports.

Despite some concerns about a "slippery slope" effect and opposition from the Florida Medical Association, the bill passed unanimously.

The measure also gives $1 million to universities to study Charlotte's Web and its usefulness in combatting epilepsy.

The bill now awaits a hearing in the Judiciary Committee.

The absolute best purpose for smoking cannabis is as an expectorant. For those who are allergic to guaifenesin, the expectorant used in most cough and cold medications, it can be a life saver. It can be the difference between suffocating on ones own mucus and coughing it out and opening the breathing airways. It can prevent pneumonia by allowing the mucus to be coughed out.

The other main reasons for smoking are almost instant relief and titration. If one is vomiting, eating is not always possible. Waiting 40 minutes to an hour or longer for something eaten to work doesn’t usually work when vomiting is involved because what was eaten usually gets thrown up, so a few puffs to stop the vomiting can be the best solution for the patient at the time.

For many patients a small amount is all they need. Parkinson’s patients report it takes 1 - 4 puffs generally to stop the tremors. By smoking it provides the relief almost instantly. They can titrate, use what they need, 1 puff at a time. You can’t do that so easily when eating something that takes 40 minutes to over an hour to work. Why should an elderly Parkinson’s patient or anyone with ailment that cause tremors or spasms, or vomiting have to wait for relief when it could be instantly?

Consuming cannabis by eating food infused with cannabis extracts such as cannabis butter or oil is a very safe way to medicate. It bypasses the hypothalamus, a plus for many patients, for others it helps but does not provide as complete of a relief. Patients learn what works best for them and their own endocanninoid system.

Topical use if effective for such a wide variety of issues, as discussed anti-biotic, antiviral, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, but also for pain, inflammation, gout, skin care, even skin cancer. There are 2 main different types of cannabis oil, one is for cooking, baking and food the other, is often called RSO or Rick Simpson Oil named so after the man who rediscovered it and has been educating the world about it. RSO is made different and kills cancer in several ways. While even the cooking/baking oil can be helpful for pain it take the RSO oil topically to kill skin cancer. For an internal cancer one needs to consume the RSO to kill the cancer, smoking it won’t work, you need a far higher dose than smoking can provide. Some anti cannabis voice are complaining that doctors are prescibing cannabis for "jock Itch" as if people as smoking it for that when in fact Cannabis for “jock Itch” is actually no laughing matter. Cannabis is an awesome anti-fungal, anti-biotic, anti-parasitic and antiviral. I found “NoFungUsAmongUs CannaSpray”, the directions read : Apply topically for Athlete’s foot, jock itch, fingernail or toenail fungus, candida rash, ringworm, eczema, psoriasis, herpes and even oral infections. Spray on and allow to dry. While cannabis is being used for jock itch it isn’t smoked for it but rather used topically.

The following effects of cannabis is how it kills cancer Anti-Proliferative - prevents cells from reproducing, Anti-Angiogenic - prevents formation of new blood vessels needed by tumor to grow, Anti-Metastatic - prevents cancer from spreading to other organs, Apoptotic - induces cell to seek it’s own death. But don’t take my word for it. - The video on youtube at the following link will explain

Stop being pu$$ies, vote for decriminalization. Legalization will still let them run the show. U wont be able to grow. They will regulate the strength of the strains as dosage and how much your allowed to smoke per day. Possession and distribution charges will get tougher if u don't have a prescription. Monthly to Quarterly doctor office fees for a new script, ur insurance may not cover for the first few trial years. It will no longer be possession of MJ, but possession of controlled substance, u should be concerned in case u cant get a script. Why do u think SF still has street dealers ? Cause not everyone can get a script. GOP courting all the hoodrat vote with legalization, know ur facts b4 u vote though.

When a loved one is in pain, wasting away unable to eat, and needs this marvelous herb in order to increase their appetite, reduce the overwhelming pain, and live as as healthy and happily as they can with the time they have left, let's have the compassion to allow them to have it.

Stop treating Medical Marijuana Patients like second rate citizens and common criminals by forcing them to the dangerous black market for their medicine.

Risking incarceration to obtain the medicine you need is no way to be forced to live.

Support Medical Marijuana Now!

Don't be fooled by "decriminalization" because citizens are still going to be treated like common criminals for medical marijuana possession under it.

This is what Kevin Sabet wants.

Citizens will STILL be forced to the dangerous black market and a shady illegal street drug dealer to purchase their medical marijuana.

Getting caught buying medical marijuana  it is STILL a crime they will arrest and jail you for. Then, they will also FORCE you to mandatory rehab, and if you don't comply, guess what? JAILTIME!

No thanks!

Also, we will still be wasting our tax dollars sending police around to ticket medical marijuana users and wasting police manpower and resources.

Instead of allowing our police the time, manpower and resources to protect us all from real, dangerous criminals who actually commit crimes with victims and pose a real threat to society.

Why else do you think they are so EAGER to "decriminalize", instead of LEGALIZE?

Don't Let'em Fool You!!!

DEMAND FULL MEDICAL MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION NATIONWIDE!
