After we get to these diplomas, can we go smoke a cigarette? I really need one. But first, Let me take a #selfie.

Sorry soon-to-graduate University of South Florida students. There will be no selfies allowed on the graduation stage. The school has added photographing your self to the list of discouraged graduation ceremony behaviors.

The school's Division of Student Affairs has sent out e-mails to students and placed ads in the student newspaper reminding students to not stop and take a selfie when they shake hands with school President Judy Genshaft.

"We want students to think about the dignity of the ceremony," Michael A. Freeman, USF assistant vice president and dean for students told the Tampa Tribune. "It's supposed to be exciting, but it's a serious academic ceremony."

He added that students could face disciplinary action or even have their degrees withheld.

More practically the school doesn't want the ceremony to run on any longer than it has to. Lets remember kids there are hundreds of other people graduation, and the vast majority of people in attendance are really just there to see one of them. They've already sat through a bunch of long boring speeches. No one wants to wait around while every single students picks the perfect Instagram filter that really brings out President Genshaft's eyes.

As it is a professional photographer takes a photo of each student shaking hands with Genshaft anyway.

Similarly the University of Florida has asked students just to turn off their cellphones completely before walking across the stage.

Another celebration spoiled by some self-absorbed, spoiled brat.

If USF was smart they would hire a photographer to take your picture while on stage and then charge you $5 for it. Give the photographer $1000 and keep the other $29,000.

What's plain stupid is people taking selfies needing the reassurance about them selves or bragging about what they did. You can take a pic when you shake the presidents of the schools hand
