Cuba's government-controlled media has announced the arrest of four Miami men accused of plotting terrorism on the island.

José Ortega Amador, Obdulio Rodríguez González, Raibel Pacheco Santos, and Félix Monzón Álvarez are currently behind bars after being arrested on April 26 according to the Communist Party newspaper Granma, though exact details are unknown.

The government claims that three of those men had traveled to the island several times in the past year to scout out possible terrorism targets. The men apparently were specifically targeting military outposts.

Cuba also claims that the men have close ties to Luis Posada Carriles, an infamous figure who took part in many attacks against Cuba but is considered a hero amongst many in Miami's exile community.

"Pertinent contact with appropriate United States authorities was made, in order to investigate these events and prevent, in a timely fashion, the actions of such individuals and terrorist organizations based in that country, which endanger the lives and security of persons in both nations," read the statement.

American officials have not yet commented on the matter.
