The 11 Strangest Miami-Related Terms on Urban Dictionary

Categories: Listicles

While doing research to make sure last week's Miami Slang Glossary was on point, Riptide checked Urban Dictionary to see if we had missed anything. It didn't help. Instead, we just found a bunch of allegedly Miami-related terms we've never heard before and were probably made up by bored internet users. The vast majority of the terms were imagined crude sexual positions that we're pretty sure no one has ever attempted in real life.

Here are our favorites, only a few of which are crude sexual positions. Has anyone ever heard these terms in real conversation? Please let us know in the comments.

These aren't funny or clever. They are quickly losing their credibility.

I'm going to assume these are terms used in cr appy rap songs written by equally cr appy rappers who have only heard of Miami within the last year and have spent a grand total of one night Miami Beach...

Some of these terms are not used by the majority of Dade County heads and your reason behind "Port of Miami" and Rick Ross' reasoning behind his lyrics and how they relate to the slang you attach it to is also false.

Lol. I've used South Beach Flu and South Beach Cold before for someone who's sick after being up in a club all night. Have never heard it as Miami Flu, but no difference

....................MIAMI is,  to almost ALL visitors,  a drug-fueled uber-party central that's not really part of america,  and the backdrop of a beach with warm sunshine during chilly winters is a bonus, so it is susceptible to judgement

these visitors don't think of the year-round residents as other than either drug-dealers, old folks, or hotel housekeepers and restaurant wait staff - so the stereo-typical labels and slang language known well to visitors is indeed "strange" to local-yokels (if you notice the date of the posts cited in the article they are years old already)

previously MIAMI was known as God's Waiting Room and another series of slang language applied and prior to that was Prohibition Era adages and on and off over the years Cuban events of Elian and the Marielitos took the stage to enhance the idea of lawlessness and corruption and transiency

until MIAMI gets it's act together it will always be seen as an uncivilized paradise subject to negative stereotypical language
