Trying to get Floridians to all agree on something is damn near impossible, so the poll number for medical marijuana are impressive. A new Quinnipiac poll shows that about 9 out of every 10 Floridians supports legalizing medical marijuana, while a majority now also supports decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana for recreational use.

The new poll out this morning finds that 88 percent of Floridians say they support, "allowing adults in Florida to legally use marijuana for medical purposes if their doctor prescribes it." Only 10 percent oppose, with just 2 percent undecided.

The survey finds 80 percent of Republicans support medical marijuana, as do a surprising 83 percent of voters over the age of 65. Support is ever greater among Democrats (94 percent) and those between 18 and 29 (95 percent).

Though, Floridians were slightly less enthusiastic when asked "would you support or oppose having a medical marijuana dispensary in the town or city you live in?" Only 71 percent said they'd support a dispensary in their town. That number is lowest among Republicans (58 percent), and seniors (57 percent).

Only 55 percent of Floridians support "allowing adults in Florida to legally possess small amounts of marijuana for personal use." Though, 72 percent of those 18-to-29 support recreational use. The age divide is most prominent here, with only 36 percent of seniors supporting the idea.

Meanwhile, 44 percent of Floridians copped to having tried marijuana at any point in their life. Surprisingly, that number was highest among those between 50 and 64 years old. Among those Baby Boomers, 59 percent have tried pot. Compare that just 48 percent of those 18-to-29 who admitted the same.

Hi supporters of mother nature plant "cannabis". Im one of the 2 percent that hasn't voted yet. Is it still time? And where can i start supporting the legalization? Peace to you all:)

Doesn't mean they will mobilize & vote. Its not 9/10 when they are standing in line to vote. Anyone will vote in a internet poll, getting them to a voting booth is something else.

Everyones all excited for the emergence of one of the biggest monopolies to hit Florida. And they (government and cronies) have set up the rules so their Rich friends get richer off of what they;ve preached to be the Devils weed for decades.

But according to the Amendment language, the people needing it for medical use and will do it the legal (out of 5 dispensaries in Florida) will take it up the bum when it comes to prices. 5 Dispensaries only = Monopoly which can be sure that even some of the hypocrites who against marijuana will profit BIG TIME.

See, I'm the 1 out of 10. My stance is it should be like morphine or any other drug like that medically. The recreational aspect, if you don't need it medically, outside of the trying experience, why would anyone be on it. Alcohol, similarly although on a recreational use, have it with a meal, cook with it, but to make it the sole reason for ingesting it is just counter to being a functioning member of society.

Surprisingly about the older generation? The young author needs to read about the 60s!!! Pot did not become illegal nationwide until the 70s. READ!

I think this poll shows how politically inactive Floridians are. Despite wide support, it took a multi-million-dollar mobilization just to get the initiative on the ballot. This should have been a no-brainer. And people should have been protesting the amount of money spent on making pot arrests for decades. Instead, people are just falling in line with the current wave of activity. Be PROACTIVE people. You can change your environment -- if you are awake and aware.

I think we are one step closer to being united. Marijuana, i believe will bring this broken economy back and maybe create place for mass employment opportunities. But most importantly, bring the people together, strong. We need to kill the crisis.
