Libertarian Adrian Wyllie Could Sink Charlie Crist's Campaign Hopes, Poll Finds

Who the hell is Adrian Wyllie? Well, he's a military vet, an IT consultant and the host of a libertarian radio talk show in Pinellas County. He also might just be Charlie Crist's worst nightmare.

That's because Wyllie is running for Florida governor on the Libertarian ticket and a new poll out this morning finds that throwing the radio host into the race turns a clear-cut Crist lead into a chaotic, impossible-to-call contest.

"Libertarian Adrian Wyllie is not, at this point, a serious contender to win the governorship," says Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. "But he may have a great deal to say about who does win."

The new Quinnipiac poll sampled 1,251 Florida voters last week, first on whether they'd vote for Crist or Rick Scott this fall and then again on the same question but with Wyllie thrown into the mix.

The results are striking. In the first instance, with just the two choices, Crist beats Scott 45-40, a result within the poll's 2.8 percent margin of error.

But with Wyllie added as a choice, the Libertarian pulls in 9 percent of the vote, sparking a statistical tie on top, with 39 percent for Crist and 37 for Scott.

Further diving into Quinnipiac's data finds that the Libertarian hurts Crist by snatching away the increasingly important independent voters. Independents favor Crist over Scott by 45 to 38 percent, but in a three-way-race fracture into 36 for Crist, 34 for Scott and 12 for Wyllie.

Part of the support may be due to sheer ignorance, though; the poll also found that 92 percent of voters had never heard of Wyllie. Many of the votes he's dragged out in the latest poll may simply be protests by voters not keen on the Democrats or the Republicans.

Crist and Scott have also already spent millions sliming each other with campaign ads, while Wyllie has been free to craft his own image on the outside. The result is that both Crist and Scott get low marks for character in the poll.

"Virtually no one knows much about Wyllie, but there are a lot of Floridians who aren't
keen on either of the major party candidates," Brown says.

It's possible that those independent votes could skew back toward the Democrats once they know more about Wyllie. Then again, Crist might just have a Ralph Nader problem on his hands in November.

I am very pleased that Adrian Wyllie will be a part of the debate. Floridians deserve to hear from all the candidates to be well informed. Adrian Wyllie deserves my vote and yours too. He is a honest average Floridian just as you and I , that is willing to stand up and do something for the interest of all of us here in Florida. The other candidates both Republican and Democrat are owned and controlled by special interest, like puppets and will lie to your face to gain your vote, then continue the same old agenda that we complain about year after year. Time to get off this merry-go-round, election after election, thinking it will be any different. Take a stand, vote for the candidate that loves this state and is willing to take time out of his life, effort and money to SERVE the people of Florida and stop voting for these 'paid for' career politicians that are only out for money and fame and have zero interest in us Floridians. Even if it's just for honesty alone, vote for Adrian Wyllie instead of the other two (Scott/Crist) which are proven liars. The choice is yours and yours alone, if you want the same old corruption and slap in the face, go ahead and vote for one of the two puppets (Scott/Crist) OR do what is right for our (yours and your children's) future and vote for Adrian Wyllie. Support him by donating to his campaign, spreading the word and contribute to the super brochure program which I think is very powerful. Visit his website today.

Folks, it all comes down to recognition. We need to spread the word about Adrian Wyllie in order for him to win. I am very much behind the “super brochure” plan, so much so, that I personally have completely covered my entire precinct where I live. I think it’s the most affective and economical way to bring the super voters, attention to Adrian Wyllie. Most don’t even know there is another choice other than scott/christ. It only cost me $47.50 to cover my precinct. I urge others to do the same. If you want him elected, you must do something to make it happen. Just your one vote will not do it. Take advantage of this great opportunity we have to get a Libertarian in the Governor’s office. We (Floridians) desperately need this. I beg you to do what you can.

Adrian Wyllie is the only sane choice. It's hard to understand why anyone would want scott or crist again. Both failed miserably. Adrian deserves my vote (and yours too) simply because he is honest, along with many, many other good reasons. I believe all that is needed is name recognition and for people to know there is another choice beside the same old corrupt candidates. Support Adrian by donating to his campaign and also the super brochure program, which I think is very powerful. Visit his website today: www.WyllieForGovernor.com

I smell a Revolution happening in Florida politics. This could slingshot across the Nation if Wyllie makes it into Tallahassee as Governor

Once these three get up on the debate stage, Wyllie is going to slaughter them both because he answers EVERY question he gets honestly, clearly and articulately. He will paint Crist as a chamelion and Scott as a Tea Party wannabe

Good article. Well written and full of factual information. If Adrian gets at least 10% of the vote, it means major party status for Libertarians and more choices for the people!

Don't throw your vote away by voting Republican or Democrat.

I can't wait for the debates! Scott dodges questions, Crist will script read bad things about Scott and Wyllie for slaughter them both with no holds barred answers to any question he gets!

Wyllie only needs 34% in a 3-way race. He is at 9% without any previous media exposure. Now the media is calling and that number will rise. Just wait until he gets in the debates and wipes the floor with Scott and Crist. There is no "lesser of the evils" in the race between Scott and Crist. I mean, HOW DID WE GET IN OUR CURRENT SITUATION? HERE’S HOW:

When the Democrats showed their true colors, you got angry and elected Republicans.
When the Republicans showed their true colors, you got angry and elected
Democrats.
When anyone suggested to you that both parties were corrupt
and that neither side were looking out for your interests, you acted like they
were crazy.
But the real definition of crazy is doing the same thing
over and over again hoping for a different result.

Wake up Florida!

COME OUT TO AN EVENT NEAR YOU! www.wyllieforgovernor.com/events

Check the page often as new events are added often!

He is doing a "Craft Beer Tour" across the state during the month of August. The concept behind the "craft beer tour" is to show support for a small business industry that has come under attack by the legislators in Tallahassee this past session.

You probably don't know, but in the 2014 Legislative Session, new regulations were passed in the Florida Senate that would greatly interfere with the craft brewery industry, forcing it out of state of be shut down. Luckily, this legislation was not voted on in the Florida House and did not become law; however, this will be an issue early in the 2015 Legislative Session.

Adrian Wyllie opposes new regulations for this booming and growing industry and is touring to the state of Florida to support Florida’s craft brewers. These events are public meet and greets in microbreweries and craft brewer’s pubs throughout the state and are all within 30 days.

The best candidate is the economist Farid Khavari.  He would establish a Bank of Florida which would generate billions in revenue for the state, and thus lower taxes.

@skildpadder69 The big question is whether he will even get into the debates.  As Libertarians continue to gain in the polls each year.  D and R candidates are putting more pressure on those sponsoring debates to establish criteria for in inclusion which guarantees that no third party candidate will make it.  It used to be something like 10% in the polls (even though most of the time Libertarians aren't even included in the polls) which got raised to 15% and now they're adding requirements that candidates must have raised at least $250,000 in donations.

If you want Wyllie to be included start writing now to anyone you hear about that will be sponsoring a debate.

@skildpadder69 There is nothing on Wyllie. He is a small business owner and a veteran who is pissed off at the system. He has a reputation for fighting the establishment!

Elephants and Asses screwing the masses. Break the system.

@junegenis Wyllie has already been invited to three debates and also the biggest one of them all in November, right before the election. I don't know about you but I smell a Revolution happening in Florida Politics

Wyllie shocked the Florida media with the Q-poll results when Quinnipiac finally included him. From what I see online so far, pretty much every news outlet covered the poll results. Wyllie who was unknown just got introduced to Florida voters the easy way! People are now going to be curious about him and start to look him up and will probably run across all the Youtube interview videos he has. I am betting that the next Q-poll Wyllie will be well into double digit territory!

@atiboy15 @junegenis Unfortunately Wylle is doing much better than Libertarian candidates in other states and even he was excluded from the Nation Press Association debate.  In NC LP Senate Candidate Sean Haugh has already been excluded from the first debate.

If voters want to hear from alternative candidates anywhere they need to starting turning up the heat on all debate organizers NOW.

@Palangana @Knezinek Precisely. Why do you think China is hording it? Fractional reserve banking and the fiat dollar is what has gotten us into this mess since 1912

junegenis
junegenis

@Palangana @Knezinek Exactly the point!  It  is the combination of fractional reserve banking and the Federal Reserve that have reduced the real purchasing power of the dollar by over 90% since the early 1900's
