Reports: Wade, Bosh to Take Massive Pay Cuts to Stay With Heat

We're not sure how a sports columnist in Portland, Oregon, managed to break big Miami Heat news, but John Canzano of the Portland Oregonian has tweeted that Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are prepared to re-sign with the Heat for a pretty heft pay cut. No one else is confirming it, but no one else is denying it either.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst, a guy we'd usually expect to break news like this, mentioned Canzano's claims in a blog post and added his own tidbits:

Indeed, if LeBron James took the max, Bosh and Wade signed for $11 million and $12 million each, and Udonis Haslem returned with a smaller contract as well, that would leave about $12 million in cap space.

And is it just us, or is this pretty much a move that suggests Wade is looking in the long-term and planning to end his career as a one-team man? Wade would have made a bit more than $20 million a year over the next two years. Now he'll make $48 million over four years.

Wade would be 37 by the end of the terms of this rumored contract, and with his knees in their current state would likely be ready to retire.

Amazing that reporters and ESPN fail to bring up the point...FL does NOT have state income tax!! A big raise from a team in another state with state tax would mean only a marginal increase if any cause that tax would encompass both their endorsement income and salary. James makes over double in endorsements what he does in salary $17mm salary $39.5mm endorsements.....none of them are leaving for winter and taxes anytime soon. That being said, every team is likely going to try build a roster like the Spurs and emulate their game plan.

Shaq won the first are you people delusional

James is the only 1 of the 3 that could leave to get what he was going to make before the opt out. Wade can't win a title for a team as the franchise player of that team. Shaq won the 1st, James obviously behind 2 of the 4 titles they won as a trio. Bosh, he reminds me of Dennis Rodman without the freak show. Then again, I think Rodman dominates him if they both are playing at the same time. Bosh can't rebound like Rodman and ppg, that's too close to really say the other is any better or worse.

Can't believe all the shit talking about Wade the man that brought Miami its first title good job Heat fans, by the way the Spurs are just that damn good I believe even those Bulls teams of the 90's would had problems with this Spurs team, remember coaching makes a hell of a difference

Sloppy journalism... Bosh and Wade have the same agent and he denied this rumor. Let me guess you believe LeBron is asking the Heat for a max contract as well?

The same money Wade would have gotten anywhere else. He should consider himself lucky.

Oh How sad.... What about all the teachers, cops, sanitation workers and firefighters in Miami who have taken massive pay cuts just to keep their jobs and food on their families plates?

I wonder while negotiating Wade's contract the Heat management team have the NBA finals playing in the background?

I love em both, but neither, especially Wade, deserve a 20 mil contract. Wade's knees are done for, and Bosh doesnt show up consistently
