Winetastings From $15 to $150
Tonight, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Angelo & Maxie's Steakhouse in Coconut Grove will offer a winetasting accompanied by artisanal cheeses and snacks -- just $15 per person. A post-tasting menu is offered for $30. 305-445-8177.
This coming Monday, April 20, Blue Door at Delano will host a Joseph Phelps wine dinner starting at 7 p.m. The five-course meal features dishes such as banana-roasted lobster and rack of lamb with morel crust. Price is $150. 305-674-6400.
The following evening, April 21, Christy's Restaurant in Coral Gables holds a more natural winemakers dinner featuring wines and olive oils from organic Long Meadow Ranch near Napa Valley. The three-course meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes choice of filet mignon or herb-crusted sea bass. Cost is $65. 305-446-1600.
Next Tuesday, April 28, begins an eight-week series of winetastings at Cacao Restaurant
in Coral Gables. Local sommelier Richard DiGiacomo will host the tastings every Tuesday at 6 p.m. The first event will be "Stimulating Conversation," in which participants can learn about the art of winetasting. May 5 brings a "Bubble Bath" savoring of Champagnes and sparkling wines. Subsequent weeks will bring tastings of Pinot Noirs, Tempranillos, Cabernets, South American wines, and so forth. The final gathering, on June 16, will be a tasting of "extraordinary beers."
