Hall Hoover Breaks Florida Hot Dog Eating Record, Gets Ready for Coney Island

Categories: News

A new Florida record was set this year in the competitive eating-hot dog circuit. Hall Hoover, as in Hall "Hoover" Hunt, from Jacksonville ate 33 hot dogs in 10 minutes to win the qualifiers for the Nathan's Fourth Of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York.

The qualifiers were held in Pinellas Park, Florida, near St. Petersburg, in the middle of nowhere.

The 27-year-old, record breaking, Florida Champion, wore "ICOR" and "10:31" painted beneath each of his eyes, a biblical reference. According to biblegateway.com 1 Corinthians 10:31 refers to the passage "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

With God on his side he may triumph in New York, but last year's world champ won in a five-dog overtime after a 59-dog tie, so he'll need all the help he can get. Good luck Hoover.

If Miami's ever gonna make it as an international food city we gotta put bids on these type of events. Superbowl, Olympics, Nathan's Qualifiers, it makes perfect sense. Let's get to work.
