The whole enchilada at Don Chile

It's official: Coral Gables is changing its' motto from The City Beautiful to The City Mexican. I think you'll agree the new tag is catchier, and also holds out the promise of a decent meal. Latest Mex eatery set to jump like a bean onto Ponce de Leon is Don Chile, named after chef/owner Donald Chile. Actually, I just wrote that to be funny. The chef/owner's name is Erubiel Gutierrez, from Campeche. Gutierrez graduated from the Iniciacion University with a degree in graphic design, which he spent the next 16 years putting to good use by working as a cook in restaurants. His dream was to one day open up a place of his own, which would feature "las recetas de Mama" -- and, presumably, well-designed menus. Don Chile is this place.

The menu will flaunt favorites like fajitas, flautas, and carne asada alongside traditional Mexican dishes such as torta chilanga, pato Castellano, and a pickled oyster-and-vegetable dish.

The public is welcome to the grand opening celebration on July 22nd, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Coral Gables city officials and other VIPs will be there for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, but don't let that scare you away -- the rest of the evening looks to be fun.
