Joey's Wynwood Italian Cafe Wine & Pizza Pairing Deals

​Joey's Italian Cafe in Wynwood opened in December 2008 and have stayed true to their concept of a down-to-earth neighborhood joint with great food and wine selection.

It's with that in mind that they've introduced a new thirteen pizza menu ($8 - $16) with wine by the glass or bottle suggestions. For the Pizza Margherita ($9), general manager and sommelier Simone Cattaneo suggests Lambrusco Scintilla D'Amore ($7.00 per glass/$29.00 bottle), a red wine with low alcohol content that complements the mozzarella in the pie.

The wine suggestions are made in part based on the cheeses used in the pizzas. Another pairing they suggest is the Thea ($15), gorgonzola, walnuts, truffle oil, and arugula with Pecorari wine from Venezia ($10 per glass/$39 bottle). Simone says that the white wine's fruity elements make for a nice balance with the strong gorgonzola and truffle flavors.

The wine list is personally compiled by co-owner Joey Goldman, he calls the wine he likes "good juice," and wants to introduce you to some that you may not be familiar with.
