Michael's Genuine Rolls Out Its Cart Saturday

| Michael's Genuine's food cart. |
Michael's steely pushcart won't be hawking the usual hot dogs and burgers. Instead, the offerings are decidedly foodie-friendly with Hedy's kasha knishes, thick cut potato chips, homemade sausage sandwich and buttered popcorn ice cream. Condiments are just as glorious (and complimentary), such as homemade local cabbage slaw, pickles and hot sauce. Wash it all down with fresh local strawberry-basil soda. Better yet, the prices are wallet-friendly, with nothing over $6. (They only accept cash, so break out those singles.)
"We've been playing with the idea of street vending for some time," says Schwartz. "It's a great way to test new items and connect with customers outside of the restaurant. We challenged ourselves to do it the genuine way, with everything made fresh yet easily transportable. I'm excited with the result and looking forward to hitting the street."
We advise that you get there early because they will be only serving 100 portions of each dish. You can track the cart and its weekly whereabouts at www.thegenuinekitchen.com/vending.
