Bubbies Mochi Ice Cream a Hit in Miami

Bubbies is produced by a Hawaii-based company and comes in 19 different flavors including lychee, strawberry, green tea, azuki bean and chocolate.

They have a rice cake coating made from gluttonous rice, which is similar to what you'd get with Dim Sum. The middle is filled with ice cream. The desserts don't have an overpowering sweetness because the doughy outer shells are only lightly flavored. After chewing for a second or two, you reach the inner ice cream filling and get the full effect of the flavor. When it melts, you will be left chewing on the soft doughy outer shell for a little while, which actually tastes better than it sounds.

Keith Robbins, who is the president of Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream and Desserts, said that his ice cream was named after his grandmother who inspired him to go into the food service industry. According to Robbins, "We use the best ingredients we can find. Perfection is what we strive for and it is made with aloha."

Sushi Samba and Nobu on Miami Beach serve mochi on their dessert menu. Neither of them discloses that they are actually serving Bubbies Mochi Ice Cream, but ordering this dessert at one of these restaurants is a great way to try a sampling of the different flavors.
