Mesazul Steakhouse Debuts at Doral

​Miami's Doral Golf Resort & Spa has capped off its $16 million facelift with the opening of two new dining options. The Bossa Nova Lounge will feature live music in the resort lobby and a menu of tapas-style small plates such as Ecuadorian-style shrimp ceviche; chorizo sausage and manchego cheese skewers; and grilled skirt steak with boniato mashers. Creative cocktails will of course be poured, and premier rum flights take off daily. Mesazul Steakhouse ("blue table" squeezed into one word) is a 160-seat, Latin-inspired meatery "with panoramic views of the iconic TPC Blue Monster at Doral golf course." We're assuming you'll need a few cocktails before the blue monster becomes apparent.

Executive chef Michael Lottermoser's Mesazul dishes include "new-age lechón asado," slow-roasted rotisserie mojo chicken, and prime steaks and chops sided by chimichurris, to name but a few. A floor-to-ceiling, climate-controlled glass wine vault boasts some 200 individual labels. Dinner appetizers start at $12, entrées at $22; cocktails run $12 to $16; wines go for $8 to $95 per glass, bottles starting at $45. Lunch buffet runs for $32.95 (with à la carte options); nothing like a good meal after a round of golf. As Tiger Woods might say, the way to a man's heart is through -- um, never mind.
