Three Flavors of Fries and Sauces at Bourbon Steak
Yes, there are steaks, seafood, and a complete menu of burgers, but you have to try a side of French fries for $5. You get three types of spuds with three dipping sauces. The potatoes are cooked in duck fat, which gives them a rich fried flavor. They arrive hot and crisp, important characteristics in any good French fry.
The first one we tried was the rosemary-herb version with spicy ketchup. Rosemary can be a little overpowering, but not in this case. The spicy ketchup was nothing to write home about and wasn't really spicy. Basically, it was ketchup that tasted like it might have had a little hot sauce added to it.
The second batch of fries was onion-dusted and came with an onion and sour cream dipping sauce. These were a little more savory. The onion seasoning was surprisingly good, and the dipping sauce added a rich flavor. However, the onion smell and taste might be too much if you're not a fan of the vegetable.
The third version came sprinkled with smoked paprika and accompanied by barbecue sauce. The tangy combination offered a unique twist on the average French fries. They were not hot and spicy, but they were flavorful. The paprika seasoning was peppery, and the barbecue dipping sauce added a welcome zing.
