A salary survey of 1,400 culinary professionals by StarChefs.com shows that Miami and New York executive chefs were paid more in 2009 than their counterparts in other U.S. cities. The average salary for an executive chef here was reported at $101,400 -- not far from New York's $101,500 and about $14,000 more than salaries in Boston.

Pastry chefs in Florida didn't do badly either. With an average salary of $55,000, local pastry chefs were paid more in 2009 than pastry chefs in Massachusetts, California, and New York. Sunshine State chefs de cuisine, however, were paid less. Their $49,300 average salary was between $13,000 and $18,000 lower than in the other three states.

What do you think, Miami culinary pros? Seem accurate?
