Coming Soon: Michael Bloise's American Noodle Bar

After years of working in high-end restaurants, former Wish chef and South Florida Rising Star, Michael Bloise, is turning to something more casual at his soon-to-open restaurant, American Noodle Bar.

"I've done upscale food for a while now and I kinda found that the food that I was cooking was special occasion food," Bloise told Short Order. "I didn't get to connect with people. I was on the beach and it was really touristy and I kinda wanted to get away from that."

It sounds like Bloise also yearned to get back to cooking.

"It just seems like the higher you get in this profession, the less you're on the line cooking," he said. "You don't really get to connect."

Pulling from his Vietnamese and Italian backgrounds, Bloise centered his menu on noodles, a food he grew up eating in many variations. He will also serve "American-Asian-inspired street foods" -- like cheeseburger dumplings with kimchee mayo and edamame hush puppies -- and an ample selection of micro-brews.

"It's a place where you can go and chill out with your friends and have some noodles and have some good beers," said Bloise.

American Noodle Bar will open in a space with indoor seating for 20 on NE 67th St. and Biscayne Boulevard. The planned opening date is August 23. Follow the restaurant's progress on Twitter and Facebook.
