​There has been surprisingly little hoopla over De Rodriguez Ocean, due to open at The Hilton Bentley at the tip of South Beach "late next month" (translation: October if we're lucky). Maybe folks figure it's just another branch of D. Rodriguez Cuba, although there are a couple of clear differences: Ocean, as the name suggests, will be a seafood-based restaurant with ceviche (15 varieties), raw bar, and sustainable fish and shellfish selections -- all prepared with D-Rod's signature Nuevo Latino flair (Rodolfo Cavadros will be chef de cuisine). And the name is not D. Rodriguez, but De Rodriguez. Which leads to a major question: Does Short Order continue to refer to Doug as D-Rod, or do we switch to De-Rod? Or the more hip-hop D-Day Rod?

Rodriguez will be offering a sneak peak of his new restaurant via a "Four Chefs For Success For Kids Benefit Night" held at the new venue on September 15th, 2010. The other chefs joining D-Day are Timon Balloo of Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill; Tim Andriola of Timo Restaurant & Bar; and Andrea Curto-Randazzo, wife of Frankie how dare you fucking say my restaurant Talula is up for sale you crackhead liar and oh by the way Talula just got sold Randazzo, both currently at the Water Club.

The benefit will raise money for Success For Kids, a nonprofit helping to end an "epidemic of cruel behavior among today's youth." To RSVP, email sfkrsvp@amgwagency.com or call 305-405-6380.
