Slow Food Miami Presents Ingredients
The Slow Food movement is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 and aimed at preserving local food traditions. Donna is passionate about Slow Food and its impact on creating a healthy community. "I don't want to be seen as preachy," she says with a smile. Bringing the movie to Miami raises awareness and in the end of the day "we just want everyone to have more nutritious and better tasting food." Hard to argue with that.
To help drive the message home three Gables restaurants will be offering a special pre-screening three-course menu featuring local ingredients. To reserve, call Books & Books ($24), Norman's 180 ($55) and Ortanique ($35) directly for the 6 or 6.30 seating. Rather than giving guests just one alternative, Donna chose to offer a "dine-around" to appeal to a wider audience and "give everyone an opportunity to find a menu they like at a price point that is good for them."
The screening starts at 8.15 p.m. and is followed by a reception and discussion featuring Oregon wines and local chocolates.
