Central Beer Garden Will Pour Into Cocowalk...Eventually

• I bought a voucher off of TravelZoo for 2 beers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts at this new restaurant and decided to try it out. It said the meal was worth $68 dollars if you were to go on your own. Let's just say, never in my LIFE would I have spent that much on such a crummy place. When we walked in, there was no hostest to greet us (mind you, the voucher said that we MUST make reservations and yet the place was a ghost town). When we finally got a seat at one of their very beat up tables with no table cloths, silverware or even a candle, we waited a long time for the ONE waiter to give us a menu. The menu had a very limited selection which included sandwiches and pizza to sum it up. And there was no beer menu. How can you open a beer restaurant and not have a beer menu?! The guy told us we could go walk around the bar to see what beers they had on tap. We order our food (I ordered a pizza that was pretty much the frozen kind you heat in the oven and my boyfriend ordered a burger and fries that came RAW) and we waited forever for this food since they were so preoccupied setting the place up for the "club" it turns into after 9PM. They were moving all the tables around us and pretty much made us feel like we were being kicked out. We had to ask for napkins because they never gave us any. The beer didn't even come in a frosty mug or even a glass. It came in a plastic mug. Again, this is a BEER place. How do you not get it right when it comes down to serving a beer? Then our voucher included 2 desserts. The only option was chocolate cake. They served us the TINIEST piece of chocolate cake and gave us plastic SPORKS (yup, like the kind you get in elementary school), to eat it with. HOW ON EARTH could you say this meal was worth $68 bucks? And then you have to pay tax and tip. So I spent $20 on the voucher (waste), plus $9 for parking at the grove (sucks) and THEN pretty much $20 for tax and tip for the poor server. $49 dollars wasted. DO NOT COME HERE. It's TERRIBLE. I wish I could give zero stars.

• Dahhhhh.....They are not Hispanic,they are Italians.. A nationality doesn't say weather or not if you understand the basic concept of business!  You obviously do not know who you are judging.. BEER GARDEN in a College town sounds like a GREAT CONCEPT! I truly think and hope they have A GREAT marketing BUDGET and PLAN to insure SUCCESS..

• Jack sounds like a hater, this place is gonna be bangin especially for northerners that vacation in florida. kinda like a home away from home. college students like myself will definitely be hittin this place up in spring break, labor day weekend, and the summer time...kudos for this place

• I like Miami and I love beer. Looks like I got a new place to check out next time I'm down there...as long as they serve at least one Dogfish Head brew.

As if that mattered anyway, I think this place is going to be awesome and I can't wait for it to open. How we don't already have a beer gardens like this is beyond me. • Yo, Jack it seems you don't know jack, these guys are Italian first off. If you are from Miami,90% of the people that work in the kitchen are hispanic. I don't care if your in a italian, german, or asian restaurant, more than likely the guy cooking you food is hispanic so what does that even matter. Don't knock it until you tried it first. You seem like the guy that goes to a local dive bar anyways, which I have no problem with that because I go to dives to drink at. But more than likely these owners aren't even trying to target you as a market anyways. So grab your typical American beer and cheers to no diversity,but don't be whinning about the world passing you by.

• Why so down on CCW ? what gives here? the new movie theatre is pretty nice? Bice is a great Italian restaurant..no? Cheesecake and Chili's..standards in the industry and fair food for good price..no? The ladies that go to Vickie's and Beauty..is that bad? GAP..enough said... Bobby Chan- a great new clothing line for guys..shirts and pants are so frickin soft and comfortable..give them a try b4 you comment.. what am I missing..Ahhh..the people that currently go there..?? maybe at 3am its not good..but plenty of wealth and families in the area that should be starting to go back and try supporting these Tenants. • Jack, You do have some valid points. Except for the fact that you can't say that 'what do two hispanic guys know about Bavarian beer garden' a lot, if not mostly all of my beer friends are all Hispanic. So let's take that back. But it clearly seems as if these guys just called up the writer of this story and told them their half baked idea. I'm surprised they even have a name for this place. And @ Jack again, the location. Horrible, have fun with the douche-baggeries from the UM students and the Bieber's that hang out by there.

• I already hate this place and its not even opening for another 14 months. A terrible business plan, erring on so many issues...No identity, no focus, stupid name, bad location... What do two Hispanic guys know about Bavarian beer gardens? Why must there be sushi? When will proprietors realize that signing a lease at Cocowalk is a death sentence? On the bright side, thank God for naive entrepreneurs in Miami. If not for them, then we'd really be in a bad recession. At least they spur some commerce, albeit for only a few months before their businesses crash and burn.
