Kings of Pastry Documentary Opens Friday at the Coral Gables Art Cinema

​If you're a French pastry chef, there's a chance your ambition in life is to wear a blue, white and red striped collar that shows you're among les meilleur craftsmen in France. But getting said collar involves three days of grueling competition under the critical eyes of master judges and pressure so intense it can make grown men cry.

In Kings of Pastry, renowned documentary makers Chris Hegedus and D A Pennebaker profile three chefs as they compete against 13 others for the collar in the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition in Lyon.

You know those TV shows where gorgeous cakes splatter over the floor before making it to the judge's table? Heart breaking, right? You'll see that happen in this film, except here the stakes -- being named the best by the president of France -- are just a little higher. Get ready to see dreams and sugar sculptures shatter.
