If you think there's not much new in the world of classical music you haven't heard Miami's New World Symphony or checked out their stunning new Frank Gehry-designed New World Center. And you almost certainly haven't dropped in to Pulse: Late Night at the New World Symphony, a fusion of symphonic concert and nightclub party set to go off at 10 p.m. on Friday.

The center's performance hall, atrium and rooftop garden will get the nightlife treatment with multiple bars, art installations, wacky-ass lighting video projections and an electronica-spinning DJ, all to complement the musical collaboration of the symphony and Mercury Soul, two musicians and a set designer determined to breathe new life into the traditional classical music format. And since all that nose-thumbing at tradition demands nourishment, also check out the $38 prix fixe, two-course, pre-theater menu at nearby Quattro Gastronomia Italiana. You can choose from dishes like tuna tartare with capers and mustard and lemon and herb-marinated Cornish game hen, They'll even throw in a complementary glass of wine or cappuccino, just to get the party started.
