Melanie Garcia Benefit and Cauley Square: Two New Food Truck Locations Tonight
|Food truck rally to help Miami teen Melanie Garcia tonight.|
Fortunately for Melanie and her family, friends and loved ones have rallied around this brave young lady and organized several fundraisers to help defray the cost of medical care.
Tonight, Miami's food trucks will hold a roundup in Melanie's honor at St. Brendan Elementary School in Westchester. Almost two dozen munchie mobiles will serve food from 5:30 to 10 p.m., with 10 percent of sales donated to Melanie.
Trucks participating include:
Dolci Peccati Gelato
Latin House Grill
Jefe's Original Fish Taco
The Fish Box
My Coffee Brake
Sugar Yummy Mama
St. Brendan Elementary, 2950 SW 87th Ave., Westchester
If you've never been to Cauley Square in South Miami-Dade, you're missing a trip to one of the most picturesque spots in South Florida. Built in 1903 by William Cauley, a millionaire farmer who wanted an easy way to ship his tomatoes north, the square was originally a railroad terminal. Bars and shops were built to accomodate train passengers and crew. Though the railroad is long gone, the buildings have been turned into antique shops, restaurants, and art galleries.
Cauley Square will hold its first food truck party tonight from 5:30 to 10, with live music, beer and wine for sale, more than a dozen trucks, and plenty of raccoons (watch out for those deceptively cute beggars). Trucks include:
The Rolling Stove
Slow Food Truck
Esther's Caribbean Grill
Aaron's Catering Express
Chef on 4 Wheels
Cauley Square, 22400 Old Dixie Hwy., Miami
