Lourdes Castro Talks Latin Grilling at Books & Books Tonight

"I really love grilling. When you're up north and you don't have that luxury [year-round], you really appreciate it that much more, so I've been obsessed with grilling ever since I moved back to New York," she said.

The book is organized into 10 chapters covering various Latin American grill-centric feasts. You'll find Brazilian rodizio, Patagonian asado, a Cuban cookout, Chilean seafood cookout, and Nicaraguan ranch roast. Each chapter covers a complete meal with sides and sauces. Castro also includes a menu game plan to help you prepare everything involved in the menu.

"I kinda wanted it to be as if you had friends from Argentina, what would they make if they would be inviting you over?"

The book also has a section devoted to grilling basics and tips. Most recipes are written for a gas grill but Castro touches on charcoal grilling as well.

At tonight's event, Castro will chat with Miami Herald food critic Victoria Pesce Elliot about the book and Latin American cooking.

"We're not sure how [Victoria] is going to keep her identity hidden but she will," said Castro.
