Emeril's Miami Beach to Close
|Emeril Lagasse will close his South Beach restaurant...but will be back for the South Beach Wine & Food Festival|
Opened in November 2003, Emeril's is located at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The hotel has undergone renovations, with the restaurant space, located at the property's St. Moritz building, set to be remodeled. With that in mind, both the Loews and Emeril's decided not to renew the lease on the restaurant space.
Lagasse has strong ties with Miami Beach and is a fixture at the annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival, hosting many parties and appearing at the event's Grand Tasting Village.
In a statement issued June 7, Chef Emeril said, "I love Miami and we'll certainly miss having an outpost here. Over the past eight years, we've made many friends here and I'm proud of my amazing staff for their hard work and contributions that helped make this a great restaurant."
Lagasse currently operates twelve other restaurants in four cities, including two in Orlando, so don't discount another Emeril restaurant popping up in Miami in the future.
Eric Lindquist, president of Emeril's Homebase in New Orleans, hinted at a positive note for Miami fans. "Emeril truly loves Miami and spends a lot of time in South Florida. We've made a lot of friends here over the years and would be open to the right opportunity to establish another restaurant here."
In the meantime, you still have almost two months to get your fill of Emeril's New Orleans classics like gumbo and barbeque shrimp.
