Acqua to Close at Four Seasons; Last Brunch This Sunday

Last oink this Sunday
Acqua will be serving a "Farewell Brunch" at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami this Sunday, July 14. It's your last chance to indulge in the expansive buffet that includes a whole roasted pig, a sprawling raw bar, and a dessert display overflowing with 30-plus types of mini pastries (11 am to 3 pm, $70 per person. To reserve: 305-381-3190).

The soiree will be a bittersweet affair for Acqua fans, as this will be the last meal served by the hotel property; a different concept and establishment will take its place by the end of 2011 ("Hopefully by Thanksgiving" said one of the hotel's spokespeople).

"The new restaurant will be a dynamic destination," promises General Manager Simon Pettigrew. "We are creating a space with a great bar and lively atmosphere."
The plan is to anchor the hotel with a contemporary American restaurant that boasts up-to-date culinary concepts -- as opposed to a classy "hotel restaurant." The emphasis will be on fresh seafood and prime meats. This is all part of a multi-million dollar renovation of the hotel that will include redesigned guest rooms and "resort-inspired enhancements" to its pool terrace.

The new restaurant, as yet unnamed, will be designed by the New York City-based AvroKO firm, which has nabbed two James Beard Awards for its sleek work in designing Public in New York (AvroKO also worked on Bourbon Steak in Scottsdale, Lavo in Las Vegas, Lily & Bloom in Hong Kong, and some other places you'll probably never get to).

Until the new restaurant opens, 14Thirty-Five lounge will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Bahia, the outdoor eatery, will serve lunch and cocktails throughout the day.
