South Florida Food Swap Comes to Miami

"I've done two so far, and they have been wonderful," said Castro. "Someone even brought beer, arancini... the list goes on and on."
On the day of the event, participants bring foods made or grown at home. It can be jam, granola, bread, anything really. They have 30 minutes to mingle, 30 minutes to look around and place bids on what they want and one hour to swap. So if you make a mean kimchee or your pasta sauce is famous among your friends, make a large batch, package it and swap it for other foods for your pantry.
The Miami food swap is from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 25 at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Sign up on Facebook or by emailing SFLFoodSwap@gmail.com. Also check out Castro's swap how-to for more information on what to bring and what to expect.
