Men in hats are better than men in tights.
Mandarine Napoleon liqueur hosted The Hat is Back, an elegant and intimate affair Tuesday night at Soho Beach House. The evening began with a scrumptious dinner with a menu designed to include the orange flavored cognac in all of the perfectly prepared dishes.

The sit-down affair was followed up by a fete that allowed guests to sample seven outrageously delicious drinks created by the head bartender of Soho Beach House and then take pics of themselves in a photo booth and check out a poolside contortionist to the beats of DJ Shlomi. Not your regular Tuesday night out on Miami Beach.

Guests were asked to wear hats, an homage to the French ruler's black bicorne chapeau, so everyone donned a cap and sipped away. Here are some snaps from Tuesday night's meal and outdoor soiree.

The dinner not only included succulent duck and buttery shrimp, it took place in the magical courtyard of Soho Beach House where couches serve as seats and twinkling trees light the plates.

Of the seven drinks, Napoleon's Garden was perhaps the most tasty. Made with Buffalo Trace bourbon, Mandarine Napoleon, lemon juice, simple syrup, whipped egg whites and a sprig of thyme, these babies were easy to slurp down.

The Coco Napoleon drank like an appetizer. It wasn't too sweet, but it was smooth with a delightful and slight aftertaste. It was made with Mandarine Napoleon (of course), coconut milk, Martinique spiced sugar cane syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, mint leaves, and a dash of orange bitters.

The three course meal started with this refreshing snapper carpaccio and shaved fennel salad with a Mandarine Napoleon citron dressing. The risotto with shrimp, butternut squash, a Mandarine Napoleon butter and a mandarin and tarragon finish stole the show. The main course was a perfectly cooked roasted duck breast with caramelized endives and Mandarine Napoleon sauce. Dessert also used Mandarine Napoleon to create wonderful chocolate treats.

Now we just have to learn to make these wonderful drinks at home or find our way back to the Soho Beach House to gulp down a bunch more!
