​Anthony Bourdain is on the talk show circuit to promote his new show, The Layover, which debuts on the Travel Channel on November 21.

When he drops in on The Late Show, the interview starts out serious and mild. Tony and Dave Letterman discuss such weighty issues as height, weight and cholesterol. (Tony's stats, by the way, are 196 pounds, 6'4", and very bad.)

Dave then goes on to ask Bourdain how often he travels. The answer is a punishing 240 days out of the year between filming and book tours. Dave then says he saw a preview of The Layover and it looks exactly like No Reservations. The difference, according to Bourdain, is vast.

No Reservations, he says, is all about him having fun, while The Layover features some places where the average schmuck can go for a meal and a good time.

Then, Tony finally turns on the snark when Dave asks why are there two cable channels devoted solely to food porn when millions of people in the world are starving. When asked if Tony and the channels give some profits back to fight hunger, Bourdain quips, "I spend all my money on crack cocaine and shiny new cars."

What about the show that wheels out hundred pound meatloaves for mass consumption by one guy (could it be Man vs. Food?), Tony muses that maybe that show is popular for the same reason why Siegfried and Roy are popular, "You want someone to die. Today's the day someone chokes on a burger ... or a tiger takes a bite out of a German."
