November Restaurant Openings & Closings

November was defined by The Dutch treat.
In September's Openings & Closings report, we cited a handful of openings (including Harry's Pizzeria and Phuc Yea!) and just a few closings. In the October edition, there were some dozen openings (like Yardbird and the two Pubbelly spin-offs) and again just three shutterings. November's numbers look a lot like those of September, with fewer than half the debuts seen last month, and the closings remaining but a few. Only real exciting November premiere was The Dutch. December, on the other hand, is shaping up to be a blockbuster (see "On Deck" for what's coming up).

Milos is NOT going into the old Au Pied Du Cochon space - this keeps getting reported incorrectly. Milos is going into the old warehouse that's being rehabbed at warp speed, southWEST corner of 1st & Washington (Pied was at southeast corner).

what about Juvia at the 1111 space? isn't it opening this month??

Hey Dee,"Early 2012" is how they are putting it, but they've been hiring since October. For those unfamiliar, Juvia is going to be located on the top floor of the 1111 fancy garage building on Lincoln Road.

Any word about whats going with the Gables Diner? It's been closed for weeks.

I just called the Gables Diner to see if there was any message as to what's going on. Only message is that they can't take the call at the moment. I'll dig more, but it looks as though the Diner may be dead.
