Teena's Pride: Super Fresh Locally-Grown Produce for $17 a Week
|Feel like eating lots of high-quality produce is giving your wallet a colonic?|
The company offers different size options, depending on how many mouths you have to feed. The biggest option feeds four to five people. It costs about $40 per week if you pay for the season. Featured above is the "Gourmet Single," specifically designed for one person. A subscription for 24 weeks breaks down to $17 per week for this option. In the service's fourth season, the company delivers to between 250 and 300 people from Aventura to Homestead.
"Everyone loves it," says office manager Diane Diaz. "The biggest complaint we have is there's too much of this or too much of that. We have some customers who ask for special things and we try to accommodate. Everything is picked fresh the day it is packed "
In the package we sampled, which was provided gratis, was a bundle of pac chai, a tangy, citrusy green; a generous bundle of chocolate mint leaves; pretty little stems of green mixed lettuces; heavy-in-the-hand heirloom tomatoes; heirloom white eggplant; kale; orange cherry tomatoes; small-stemmed, juicy bok choy; Swiss chard; a large, bumpy seedless cucumber; and a smooth, small cucumber.
Teena's also serves Michael's Genuine and Altamare on the beach, among others. They're having an open house on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
