Papo Llega y Pon, Latin American Grill, Don Camaron to Fill Marlins "Taste of Miami" Ballpark Menu

​Now that the new Miami Marlins ballpark is almost complete, it's time to start deciding what will be available to eat as the baseball club decided on three local restaurants that will best represent the culinary side of Miami, Latin cuisine of course!

"The three restaurants selected are local shops and will offer fans a true Taste of Miami," said the Marlins in a press release.

The three restaurants have deep roots in the community and will be located in the Taste of Miami area on the Promenade level right by third base.

Don Camaron will be the place for seafood. From ceviche, conch fritters, fish croquettes and even an oyster bar. Marlin, however, is not on the menu.

Latin American Grill specializes in a variety of Latin foods like palomilla steak and especially their signature Cuban sandwich. Ballpark fare will include medianoche sandwiches, Miami sandwiches, empanadas, mariquitas (plantain chips) and cafecito.

But for a great word-of-mouth place that has been doing sandwiches for 33 years, Papo Llega y Pon will be serving their pork sandwiches at the ballpark, as well as chicharron (fried pork skin with bits of meat), and tamales.

"Pork is something is that is such a staple in the Spanish community," says owner Julia Alfonso. "It's nice to show people who come to the ballpark what it's all about."

New Times selected Papo Llega y Pon for having the best pork sandwiches in 2009. A lot of great food for not a lot of money, but at the ballpark customers can expect to pay a little more.

"I'm happy to find out that we were really the only one considered for the pork sandwiches," says Alfonso. "It's really a confirmation that we were supposed to be here."
