Miami's Ten Best Cupcake Shops

In town from Manhattan...went to"#1 Sweetness". What a joke. I dont know if the reviewer have any training in food or even good taste buds, but these cupcakes should be on the bottom of the list. Cake doesnt have much flavor and the frosting taste like a confection sugar mess...guess NY standards are much higher...will try Buttercream or Mishas.

Out of curiosity, is this just the opinion of the writer or was there a group of people who tasted these cupcakes? It seems like if it's just one person, it's not really a fair assessment. I'm surprised some of these places are not higher on the list.

In my opinion, few places match Buttercream. It's one of the only places I can actually tell the ingredients and cupcakes are fresh. The staff is also really friendly.

Very true people, this is an opinion piece, not anything back by stats or facts. Everyone's tastes are different, deal with it. As for management, I do hear bad things about different places like how Misha's employees are like Nazi's and LA Sweets employees don't even get paid! (Heard this from a former employee who quit after not being paid for weeks on end) but if management is what you want to know, ask the employees. If taste is what you seek, ask the customers.

Misha's cupcakes is opening up store #4. She must be doing something right! Numbers don't lie. Concentrate on your own business, and take notes from Misha.........except for her ingredients that all of you so desperately seek. You want nutritional facts? They are high in calories just like every other cupcake baked in America. Misha's should of been #1 on this list.

Obviously if someone has posted about Misha's Cupcakes treating their employees as trash is because they did something that they were not supposed to do, and I am sure was told countless of times what was being done wrong. Yes, Misha's Cupcakes was one of the first cupcake stores to open in Miami but they are still one of the best and that has to say something. I do not think any of this bashing towards Misha's Cupcakes is going to do anything because the great service and continuation of expanding their business speaks for itself. Misha's Cupcakes makes you feel like you are home and on my list it will always be my #1. Do not be upset because you can't do a cupcake better than theirs. :)

As far as I am concerned this is an opinionated post and everyone has the free will to choose what foods they ingest or not. This article was not intended to bash anyone, but unfortunately some people have nothing else better to do than exhibit tasteless opinions that are based on false accusations and presumptions. It is quite evident that there aren't many cupcake shops in the South Florida area that have 4 successful locations like Misha's Cupcakes. The issue is not about who is a better owner, the consistency of frosting, ingredients, artificial colors, etc., the fact is that we ALL eat foods whose ingredients we know might not agree with us, yet we still choose to eat them. Stop being so critical people and GROW UP!! Apparently those of you with tasteless opinions and comments are immature and lack knowledge based on facts! Don't accuse someone of mistreating their employees.....it only leads me to believe your comments stem from a personal experience you had at Misha's. By the way, learn to spell her name.....MISHA'S CUPCAKES! Learn to eat and at least if you don't like something, don't bash the business just find something that doesn't give you diarrhea!!! If your gall bladder has been removed, sweety, you have no business eating any sweets!!!

All you Misha employee's, no need to be so defensive. Misha might be a great employer, but her cupcakes don't stand a chance. Maybe she should fire some of you and spend her cash on someone who actually knows how to bake.

I also actually like Unique Designer's Cakes. They made great cupcakes that makes me put them on par with LA Sweets. I wasn't that crazy about Sugar Yummy Mama though.

There is one thing I want to make clear, as I have seen some negative remarks regarding the treatment of Misha's Cupcakes' employees. We are far from mistreated, in fact, we may even be a little spoiled...(A week off for the Holidays- not many companies would risk losing the vast amount of money that could be gained during those demanding times-I was grateful for that.) I have only worked here for a few months and I am glad to say Misha is a fair person that, like any other boss,seeks the best from her employees.Now, what's so wrong about that? As for the "appalling" taste of the cupcakes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I doubt all the happy customers that walk in and out daily would agree.

Newsflash! Misha's isn't the only one who gives their employees time off. I'm sure the majority of the cupcake shops in Miami do, especially because the majority of them are mom & pop shops. This doesn't necessarily make you a great employer.

I can't believe someone thinks Misha's treats their employees poorly! I've worked here for a few months, since moving to miami, and everyone has been so great. Misha and all the managers are sooo nice and friendly and made me feel at home immediately. Plus, these seriously are the best cupcakes I have ever had. The black bottom cupcakes and smores cupcakes are especially incredible!!!

I wonder what types of "scary" ingredients Misha's cupcakes have in them. I like a lot of their flavors but I barely buy there anymore because I find too much of a coincidence that every time I eat a couple of their cupcakes, I end up with diarrhea. It is nice to know that the Kendall area has a few cupcakes places. I will definitely try them since I love sweets.

Obviously from the immense amount of Misha bashing you are doing, you must be a bitter competitor that probably didn’t make the list. I’ve been a customer of Misha’s for years! I have met Misha herself and my goodness what a kind hearted woman! I highly doubt she treats her employees poorly, especially from the way they interact with their customers; they are the sweetest and funniest girls. Her products are amazing. Again, this article is all based on opinions, but someone that is just speaking nonsense about someone’s business, especially spreading untrue facts is completely childish. If you don’t like her products, don’t eat them. P.S. Maybe your digestive system is sensitive to delicacy.

FYI, I am NOT in the restaurant/food industry. I've been a customer of Misha's cupcakes for a while. Read my comments and tell me what's the immense amount of bashing I was doing. It is called feedback. I did agree with whoever mentioned that there is too much frosting on Misha's cupcakes to the point some has to be removed. That is a fact, no bashing there. Trust me, after I read a comment where somebody said they won't disclose the ingredients because they are scary, that kinda creeped me out and prompted me to suggest that the ingredients should be disclosed to the public. It is a fact that after I eat 2 or more of their cupcakes, I get an upset stomach but I also had my gallbladder removed so if I eat something that has too much fat, I end up feeling horrible, and for some reason, I have the feeling those cupcakes might be loaded with fat. Anyways, it is great to know there are other places where I can go buy cupcakes for me, my family and friends. From what I've read, it looks like everybody else can disclose nutritional facts and that should help me make a better decision about where to go next time.

I beg to differ, do not go looking for an excuse to make Misha's Cucpcakes look horrible. If you think it tasted like a stick of butter you obviously left it out of put it in the fridge for way too long. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER FOOD!!!! Everything- especially food-has a shelf life. (Do NOT be ignorant) And yes i am an employee at Misha's Cupcakes, and i have never been more content working for a company. My objective was to obtain a position with an organization that rewards hard work with growth and advancement from within. Working at Misha's, i have obtained that position, and we are all rewarded in someway or another for our hardwork. Misha has donated cupcakes to the homeless ,and many other charities. So please stop all this nonsense! Life is nothin' but sweet her at Misha's Cupcakes ;)

LMAO! It tasted like a stick of butter bought straight from the store. Maybe the shelf life is 5 minutes. Some people like to eat butter with sugar and some don't. Publix makes better frosting than you guys. I have no problem with your cake but your frosting has to go. The majority of people take it off anyways. Just a suggestion.

I think the vast majority of you need to move out of your parent's basement and get a life. All "top ten" lists are subjective. While I can agree that Misha's (which most of you can't spell even though the name is RIGHT in front of you) doesn't not make a great product, her marketing and business ethic is something to emmulate. I happen to agree with the number 1 spot, but yes, that is MY personal opinion, and had I disagreed with it, I would not sit here and bash other local business owners. This article shines the opinion of one person; needless to say the nasty comments about Misha's Cupcakes are completely uncalled for. I absolutely love Misha's Cupcakes. I'm not only saying this because I personally work with Misha, but before I joined her company her shop was the best cupcake shop in Miami, in my opinion. I remember going in and being treated like I was a top client and that immense amount of respect her employees showed me every time I went in, was and still is the same as they showed to all of her other customers. I have personally been to most of the shops mentioned above prior to working with Misha, and the way they treat customers was disgraceful and the cupcakes were subpar. Upon joining Misha and her cupcakeers, I learned Misha herself was not only an outstanding business woman but also an outstanding friend. There is a difference between treating an employee like “trash” and expecting your employees to be top notch and making sure the customer has an impeccable experience at our shop. We may not know the recipe to the cupcakes because that is not our job; but I can honestly say there is nothing artificial about Misha’s cupcakes. Our job as cupcaketeers, is to make our customers happy and make sure they have an incredible experience with us at Misha’s. We have yet had complaints on how our cupcakes tasted or how our employees mistreat our customers. We do our absolute best to make their experience with us the best they’ve ever had. We go above and beyond to satisfy our customers and make sure everything was beyond their standards.

The owner of Misha's cupcakes should educate her employees about her product. Customers should be in their right to know if those cupcakes have any trans fat, what kind of food dyes or colorings they use, what kind of fat they have, etc. It should not be a secret. A lot of people avoid certain foods because of their ingredients. The more I read these comments, the more I start wondering about their ingredients and how every time I eat their cupcakes, I end up sick. Too much of a coincidence, don't you think?

I truly am unsure as to why so many people are upset with Mishas Cupcakes, whether it be because of the service or because of the taste of the cupcakes. I have been to countless cupcake shops and can tell you that Mishas cupcakes rank high on my list. L.A Sweets comes nowhere close to these when it comes to taste, batter and frosting wise. The employees at Mishas are always friendly and cooperative as well. Maybe all these negative comments sprouted from the fact that Mishas deals boxes of cupcakes to endless amounts of stores in the Miami area. Try cupcakes at a Mishas location and let your taste buds be the judge. These cupcakes are simply mouth watering

In my opinion I truly believe that Misha's Cupcakes is one of the best in flavor and customer service cupcake shop in Miami. I have been working there for more than a year and I genuinely feel like it is a second home to me. I love everyone I work with and I enjoy going to work everyday. Just like any Company we all have to treat the customers with respect and be on top of our game at all times. If people think this means that they treat their employees poorly then I would definitely not want to see those individuals running a company. Misha has a great relationship with every single one of her employees and we get paid extremely well compared to employees of other cupcake shops. I feel completely comfortable to go to her with any problem I have and she is always willing to give advice and help in any way. She is an awsome boss and does not deserve to have poeple that do not actually work at her stores or know her personally bad mouthing her business that she strived to make as successful as it is now and will keep being for years to come.

P.S. she gives student discounts, military, police, firefighters and neighbor discounts at all her stores as well as her EMPLOYEES!!!!

Ugh I went to Mischa's once and I was disgusted. I had the small ones. It was like a sugar shock in my mouth. Tasted like pure lard with an excess amount of sugar. Their frosting to cupcake ratio is a bit off. I know people who love Mischa's and because they take the frosting off. Then what's the point? They shouldn't even be on the list. My number one pick is Sweetness and Bunnie Cakes are great also for a vegan choice.

I am one of those who has to take half of the frosting off when eating Misha's cupcakes. I do agree that their frosting to cupcake ratio is off. I thought their cupcakes were good but if they barely made it to #10 on the list, then I've definitely been missing the good stuff other places have to offer.

This list is awful. Buttercream blows the rest away. Sweetness is a great dessert truck with some amazing treats (um cake shake!). But the cupcakes don't compare. Micha's being on the list shows how terrible the list is. Artificial icing? I'll go to Publix for that.

What you are all failing to remember is that this list is the opinion of the writer, take it or leave it. You are also entitled to have your own opinion on the subject. My opinion is that Sweetness is easily the best in Miami. They were the first to do the Guava cupcakes in Miami which have been very poorly copied by many other shops. They were the first to do the Maple Bacon cupcake in Miami which has been poorly copied by many other shops and they were the first to make the cake shakes which have been poorly copied many times, I wont mention any names on this one but you know who you are.Sweetness' red velvet cake is real red velvet, not made with food coloring like other shops. their stuff is always fresh and with a variety of other regular menu items like cookies, pies, doughnuts they are not a one trick pony like many of these other shops. Sweetness is the real deal.

Do you even know what it is to make a real red velvet? A real red velvet is made with the combination of dutch-processed cocoa and buttermilk. There's no way that can be done while keeping the same consistency that all of their cupcakes share. In fact, nobody makes what you call "real" red velvets today. If you can't prove that it's a real red velvet then you shouldn't talk bad about other places.

Just an update for LA Sweets, you aren't the only ones who use guava in their batter, you can eat Sweetness' without frosting or filling and tell the cake itself is guava.
