Making plans for next weekend, already? Perhaps Sunday brunch in paradise sounds appealing.

Paradise Farms, an organic produce farm to the local restaurant industry originally had the intentions of hosting an Avocado Drop and brunch, on Sunday, January 15. However, "Whole Foods Markets has bought the whole crop out!" says Paradise Farms owner, Gabrielle Marewski. Despite the need for last minute scrambling, she expressed appreciation for the buyout, stating that Whole Foods "has been wonderful" with them.

Luckily, they found a quick alternative to the lack of Florida avocados.

Enter Kids' Fruit Happening - primarily focused around kids, the new brunch theme coincides even better with their Slow Food partners.

Benefits will go towards Slow Food Miami's Edible School Garden Program, which is designed to create student-centered organic vegetable gardens and to introduce students to the pleasures of good, clean and fair food that they can, literally, grow in their backyard.

A tour of the lush farm begins at 11 a.m. where knee-high guests can help pick oodles of ripe strawberries and carambola (starfruit). Come noon, nosh on chef Kira Volz's local, organic and seasonal brunch. Brunch menu highlights include fresh eggs, homemade yogurt, fresh seasonal fruit, mimosas and more.

It's an ideal outing for the whole family with the perk of a little exclusivity - the farm is only open to the public during brunch and dinner events. This is the second of Paradise Farms' "themed brunches," - the first of them took place over Halloween of 2011. Further brunch plans include a spring, Mother's Day and Easter themes.
