Wynwood Supper Club at Lester's: January Edition

​Lester's in Wynwood is hosting the second installment of Wynwood Supper Club. Come January 10 -- Tuesday -- the urban book and magazine haven will be flaunting the skills of chefs Amit Savani and Kris Huseby of Gypsy Kitchen.

"There's [...] a real educational component to the dinner as the food, beer and/or wines are all accompanied by an explanation of their couplings," says Lester's owner and local artist, Daniel Milewski.

"Basically, we turn Lester's into a pop-up restaurant for the night," he says. At 7:30 p.m. guests may stroll in and have a seat where they've cleared out a large space for the event. "We create one really large table in the middle of the space complete with table cloth and place settings... all fancy-like." To be honest, we love the idea of turning a nifty hang-out space into a dining area.

Reservations are required, as seating it limited to one service that night, and for $45 each guest can let Gyspy Kitchen to do all the hard work. Interestingly enough, Milewski told us that the Gypsy Kitchen truck literally pulls around to the back of the establishment and cooks from there.

Because Wynwood Supper Club has been putting most if its efforts in pairings, this time around, local do-it-yourself brewers, BrewBox, will be providing the drinkable components to the dinner. One fabulously personal touch to note: "[they] will be brewing a selection of beers especially for the meal," Milewski says. Now, that sounds inviting.

Together with the chefs, they've collaborated a menu where each of the four courses exemplifies "gourmet-style pub food with a twist". The chefs were kind enough to pass along the evening's menu to Short Order. Here's a taste - seared scallop served with a bacon cashew and brown sugar butter, paired with a porter nut brown ale. Another nibble, papa rellena short rib pot pie, paired with a pub bitter.

Says Milewski, "our goal is to make this happen once a month with the menu and pairings changing each time". We'll keep our eye on this monthly event - it could be the next big thing for Miami.
