Second Saturday Street Food Fest at Wynwood: Bigger and Better
|Dim Ssam a Gogo's Richard Hales has revamped the Wynwood truck roundup.|
Hales, organizer of the monthly food truck roundup in Wynwood during the neighborhood's second Saturdays art walk, has decided to up the ante of the event, bringing live music, a DJ, local clothing and jewelry vendors, a full cash bar, and priority secured parking.
Hales, who recently opened his second Sakaya Kitchen location in downtown Miami, has been taking a step back from the food truck scene. Instead of taking his Dim Ssäm à gogo truck out nightly, Hales is concentrating on quality over quantity. He's teamed up with Burger Beast and City Style Collective to host the Second Saturday Street Food Fest.
Hales is charged with curating the trucks for the event, while Style Collective is working with local crafts people to gather a group of about 20 vendors offering unusual and competitively-priced items for sale.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Alabao, an all-star cast of Miami-based band leaders who perform original music with a Caribbean vibe. DJ AKA will also be on hand to spin old and new school pop, rock, and hip hop.
Premium on-site parking will be available for $10, which alleviates some of the hassle of finding a spot during the insanely busy evening.
Food trucks will include Dim Ssäm à gogo, The Rolling Stove, Ms. Cheezious, Latin Burger, Mac' n Food, The MexZican Gourmet, Taco Fresh, gastroPod, Che Grill, Chef on 4 Wheels, Health Nut on Wheels, CubanCube, Nacho Bizness, Purple People Eatery, Red Koi, Slow Food Bistro, Mr. Good Stuff, Pardo's Grill, Bite Gastrotruck, Guiseppe's Italian Sausage, and Dog Eat Dog.
Dessert trucks include Fireman Derek's Famous Pies, Sugar Yummy Mama, SugarRush, Dolci Peccati, and Boba Station.
The Wynwood Street Food Fest, which runs from 6 p.m. ro midnight, is located at 210 NW 22nd Lane, Miami.
