Boulud's menu will showcase the gastronomy of his native city of Lyon. The bistro sommelier Caleb Ganzier will co-host the dinner and present wines from Daniel's good friend Jean Luc-Colombo. These include St. Peray and library vintages of the acclaimed Cornas, poured from large formats. The opportunity to try this Cornas wine is limited -- because it's a library vintage, it will have to be returned by early the following week.
But seriously, the four-course dinner will start with roasted Maine scallop, segue into a duo of California squab followed by a trio of lamb, and a chocolate "palet" for dessert. The wines will be a 2009 St. Peray; 2007 Cornas "Ruchets"; 2005 Cornas "Ruchets"; and 2001 Cornas poured from a jeroboam (the prior three wines come from a magnum).
A reception begins at 6:30 pm, followed by the dinner at 7 pm. Price is $140 per person, tax and gratuity not included. Compare this price to some of the SoBeWFF events and this seems like something of a bargain. If you're interested, RSVP to Ananda Torres (ananda.torres@mdmusa.com).
