Jeremiah Bullfrog, Joshua Marcus Debut Harding Dinner Series This Friday

Look for brashly inventive food from the colorful Bullfrog.

​​Joshua Marcus and John Donovan are busy guys these days. There is the switchover of the Chow Down Grill in Surfside to Josh's Deli & Appetizer, Chow Down Grill South Beach is adding sushi, and the duo is teaming with Jeremiah Bullfrog (Gastropod) for a one-week-only series of tasting dinners.

The first Harding Dinner Series at 9517 Harding Avenue takes place this Friday, March 30. There will be room for 22, with two seatings per night: 5 or 6 p.m., and 9 or 10 p.m. You must make reservations, but those who do so too late won't be shut out, as more than 20 seats will be made available for a special la carte menu.

Here's what you can look forward to:

Anyone familiar with Jeremiah's cooking will know to expect wildly creative cuisine. The last Cobaya dinner he presented included lamb belly with "well-buttered shavings of cauliflower"; brisket with "dark black carrots"; and Madeleines with bone marrow butter.

For the Harding dinners Bullfrog with be "experimenting with foods and flavors of the moment." These may include the Beet Composition of black sesame soil, hibiscus gastrique, and wood sorrel (I'm not certain, but I think they might hand out miniature shovels rather than forks for that one). Other Jermiah creations that might pop up include Arepa 2012 with popcorn milk pudding and queso blanco; or Cancha Duck Pastrami with pumpernickel streusel, mustard seed caviar, and "Brussels kraut."

Tasting menus will encompass up to 20 such boldly flavored small plates. The price: $79. That seems like a bargain.

Andrew Diambrosi of Top Chef Season 4 has already been secured as the second guest chef; dates have not yet been announced, but it's easy enough to get the latest info.
