| Pasta Folie's gives pasta a world vision. |
The original Pasta Folie's opened in 1999 in Cannes, France with a pastas-around-the-world theme. The owners, Cedric and Sandrine, decided to expand the concept to Miami.
The menu, like the name suggests, is pasta-centric and divided into sections. The "Folie's" are named after the the country that inspired the dish like the Bali (soba spaghetti with chicken, pineapple, red peppers, and soy sauce) or the Indi (spaghetti with carrots, zucchini, eggplant, red peppers in a creamy curry sauce). All of the "Folie's" are priced at $13.50.
Traditionalists can be satisfied with the classicos ($10.90), where you can choose your pasta (spaghetti, penne, or fettuccine) and sauce (carbonara, mushroom, Alfredo, bolognaise, diavolo, pesto, Napolitaine).
There's also a selection of pizzas, salads, and a few chicken entrees. All sauces are made in-house and the pastas are cooked to order. The restaurant also serves beer and wine by the glass.
The restaurant also offers a lunchtime special on weekdays, offering a salad or classico pasta and a soft drink for $9.50. There's also a 10 percent off introductory special for New Times readers until June 15 -- just mention the Short Order blog. Sounds like incentive to try them out for a quick lunch or dinner.
