SushiSamba Has a New Look For Mother's Day, a Taste of Japan For May

Bossa nova singing sensation Monica Da Silva will be performing at SushiSamba dromo on Mother's Day this coming Sunday, May 13. The a la carte brunch, which begins at 11 a.m. (Da Silva will sing from noon to 3 p.m.), features a special muddled orange, triple sec, and guava cocktail created with moms in mind ($11), and cool offerings such as quinoa waffles.

Mother's Day will also bring the official reveal of SushiSamba's new decor. The photo above represents a limited sneak peek. But for fans of fresh oysters, Kuromitsu glazed pork belly buns, Wagyu beef gyozas, Ashai beer and other flavors of Japan, the Lincoln Road restaurant will be celebrating the month of May with special Japanese food and drink specials. Those with a yen for the Japanese specialties need only show up any Sunday through Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to closing and select well-priced menu items. The aforementioned oysters, from West and East coast, are $1 each. The pork buns and gyozas are $6 each, as are the other offerings: White fish tempura, spicy scallop gunkan, bigeye tuna tartare, and a sushi roll of grilled salmon and salmon skin with shiso, cucumber, butter lettuce and tartare sauce.

Ashai goes for $6, as do specialty sake cocktails. Satsuma Mura sweet potato shochu by the glass is $7; a three-stop sake flight is $15.

So, in sum, SushiSamba is offering live bossa nova for Mother's Day brunch, Japanese specialties throughout the month, and a snazzy new decor for the foreseeable future.
