You wish yours was as organized.
Yesterday marked the beginning of yet another wet and humid summer for Miami. To most everyone else living in the United States, summer equates to long, sunny days and fun-filled barbecues. Unfortunately for the Magic City, these upcoming wet months mean a lot more time will be spent seeking shelter from the pelting rain rather than dining out. Instead of toasting friends with champagne on Lincoln Road, we find ourselves rummaging though our pantries for our next meal.

It's best to stock up on the good stuff now, before the hordes of procrastinators hit the shelves -- all at once. Some foodies tend to put the hex on processed goods, and for a lot of good reasons. Sadly, however, in emergencies, they might be your only option. The upside to resorting to a pantry meals, though, is the nostalgia that accompanies not far behind  Snacks such as preblended peanut butter 'n' jelly and pizza-flavored Goldfish bring back memories of happier (and much drier) summers.

We've compiled a list of essential must-haves for any self-respecting Miami resident, but we decided to step it up a notch. Of course we included some classics, but what about the 'smores and booze? We got you covered.
Pizza-Flavored Goldfish
An ode to our pristine beaches? Maybe. But more or less, we love the flavor. And those cute little smiles.

Verde Champagne

Instead of poppin' bottles at LIV, you can pop 'em on your couch! It's only $5 a bottle, so there is no reason not to stock up for a rainy day.

Canned Chicken, Seasoned Black Beans, and Instant White Rice With Lime Juice
Because David's Cafe is closed.

Instant Cappuccino Mix
You'd go crazy without it.

Salsa and Scoop-Shaped Tortilla Chips
Both of these items stay perfect in the pantry until you are ready to bust them out for you and your neighbors.

Favorite Cereals
Take a step back to the '90s (and perhaps the '80s and '70s) and indulge in your favorite morning cereals. Fruity Pebbles and Cookie Crisp, anyone?

Malibu Rum (and Other Tropical Liquor)
This is the most obvious addition to the list. It maintains your sanity during lockdown, as well as gives you that touch-of-sun feeling.

Two-Liter Bottle of Orange Soda
To mix with your booze.

Graham Crackers, Chocolate Bars, and Marshmallows
Eat them on a pillow on your floor in front of a portable heater for the full nostalgic effect.

Dried Toast and Peanut Butter/Jelly Mix
Doesn't get any more classic or easy.

Dried Fruits and Nuts Mixed With Chocolate
Blend it yourself or buy it premade.

Canned Fruit and Veggies
We have learned through life experience that all canned goods are not created equally.   According to GoodGuide.com's list of highest-rated canned goods, apricots and pineapple top the fruit charts. Diced tomatoes and chestnuts top the veggie list.

Chicken of the Sea (Canned Tuna in Water)
"Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish?"

Instant Chocolate Pudding With Evaporated Milk
Both components are shelf stable, and some actually say instant pudding is better when made with evaporated milk. Either way, it cures your sweet tooth in no time.
