Hey there, sailor! Wanna try something sweet?
Lots of candy is coming to town soon, both for your belly and your eyes. Yes, folks, it's true: Dylan's Candy Bar will open at 801 Lincoln Rd. in late fall/early winter, and Terribly Girly Photography is hosting Candyland-themed pin-up photo sessions beginning today, Monday, July 9. There's so much sugar up in here we've already made a dental appointment.

Let's start with Girly because that's the more timely news. We've written about this talented team of photographers and stylists numerous times (and they were our Best of Miami 2011 winner for makeovers), but it's a rarity to find them doing something so, well, food-related, so we thought we'd bite... um, lick. Founder Janette Valentine tells us she has oversize gumdrops, hard candy, cupcakes, and lollipop props, along with pastel backgrounds to make the scenery supersweet. For $350, "models" get professional hair and makeup by the crew, five final retouched images, and a print. An additional $35 brings a wardrobe gal at your service too. (Wonder how much Katy Perry had to pay for hers? Hmm.)

"This is the first time we're offering this theme, so we're really excited to get started," Valentine says. "It's going to be so colorful, fun, and vibrant. Seemed fitting for this time of year."

Once the weather starts cooling down and you can again gain weight after receiving your sexy photos, head to the former Ghiradelli location to indulge in a fantastic array of confections at the new Dylan's Candy Bar. Asked why she lighted upon our delectable city as the first southeastern spot for her nationwide concept, Dylan Lauren, founder and CEO of Dylan's Candy Bar and daughter of legendary designer Ralph Lauren, told us: "Miami is one of my favorite cities. It's vibrant, creative, hip, and is a destination that people from all over the world come to visit. These were all the characteristics I was looking for when searching for the new location to expand my brand."

The 3,400-square-foot spot will feature outdoor seating, a Color Your World bulk candy display, Lucite stairs loaded with real candy, and a café with enough treats to even make Willy Wonka blush. The only savory treats we see on the original New York location's menu are pizzas, but the offerings also include dessert pizzas, ice-cream sundaes, frozen hot cocoa (hear that, Serendipity 3?), "fun-due," s'mores, a make-your-own sandwich bar (Fluffernutter, anyone?), and -- drumroll, please! -- cocktails. Strawberry Nerds mojitos and coffee-cake martinis all around!

Here's an inside scoop about the goods too: Reps tell us the most sought-after treats are the Clodhoppers -- graham cracker and cookie bits rolled together and dipped in chocolate. And look for an exclusive gummy candy mix made just for our market with suns, sunglasses, palm trees, and the like, served in Dylan's signature paint canister.

Candy Girls, you make our hearts melt faster than a Fudgsicle on a hot summer day.
