While our nation is somewhat older, Krispy Kreme is turning a respectable 75 on July 13. To celebrate, the doughnut company, famous for turning ordinary people into sugar-crazed beasts over their warm, fresh glazed doughnuts, is driving around a tricked-out 1960 Flxible Starliner bus around the country.
The Starliner, renamed the Krispy Kreme Cruiser (why no "K" in Kruiser?), is making 500 stops throughout the United States, including local festivals, state fairs, sporting events, the New York Stock Exchange, and nearly 250 Krispy Kreme doughnut shops.
Next stop? Homestead-Miami Speedway tomorrow, July Fourth, for the annual "Race to the Fourth" party.
From 5 to 10 p.m., tour the inside of the Krispy Kreme Cruiser, which is filled with doughnut memorabilia and take a chance at the prize wheel where you could win free doughnuts, coffee, and promotional items. Krispy Kreme doughnuts will also be available for purchase individually ($.99) or by the dozen.
Admission to Race to the Fourth is free and features family entertainment, live music, food and drinks, games, and a U.S. Citizenship swearing-in ceremony of U.S. Military personnel. After dark, guests are invited to stay for fireworks.
As part of their birthday celebration, Krispy Kreme is also inviting people to share their Krispy Kreme memories or sign their virtual card.
