Celebrate Oktoberfest With Pop-Up Beer Garden, Munchen Brunching

Time for beer goggles.

Oktoberfest, that 200-year-old celebration that sees lederhosen and dirndl-clad lads and lassies turning the German town of Munich into a giant month-long frat party, is drawing near.

But with flights to Europe pricing out at around $1,000 these days, you might want to plan your beer buzz a little closer to home. And, while you're at it, why wait until October to celebrate Oktoberfest?

Brickell Irish Pub is bringing Munich to Miami with a month-long series of parties in September, including beer brunches and a pop-up beer garden.

On Saturday, September 8, break out the lederhosen for the Official Countdown to Oktoberfest, featuring a five-hour open beer bar. There are two different party "shifts", and $55 ($65 at the door) buys you entry into either the day (1 to 6 p.m.) or evening (6 to 11 p.m.) party. Either way, you'll be able to drink your fill with unlimited beer, stuff your face with homemade soft pretzels and sausage, dance to traditional Bavarian music, and oogle plenty of girls in dirndls.

From September 15 to October 7, the Brickell Irish Pub's terrace will turn into a pop-up beer garden every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. complete with plants, umbrellas, special lighting, and lots of beer specials. Expect to see craft beers, German imports, and local brews both on tap and bottled. A special selection of seasonal pints will be available.

If your motto is "beer is for breakfast," you might want to check out the all-day beer brunch, served weekends from noon to 7 p.m., starting September 15. German-inspired dishes like pork schnitzel sliders, house-made sauerkraut, homemade soft pretzels, and duck confit benedict will be offered as small plates meant for sharing and will be presented with suggested beer pairings.

And that airfare money you saved by staying in Miami? Think of it as beer money to last you through the end of October.
