There appears to be a new record-setter for beer. A team of microbrewers in Scotland at Brewmeister Brewery has made what could now be considered the world's strongest beer weighing in at a whopping 65 percent alcohol by volume, or 130 proof.

The beer is called Brewmeister's Armageddon and is set to be revealed at the Inverness Beer Festival on November 3. Although the record has yet to be confirmed by Guinness World Records. The beer is set for worldwide launch on Thanksgiving day.

The current reigning champion is BrewDog brewery in Scotland, which makes a 55 percent ABV beer called The End of History. Sam Adams brews Utopias, a 26 percent ABV beer.

Brewmeister's Armageddon is made with crystal malt, wheat, flaked oats and spring water. The extremely high alcohol content is achieved by freezing the beer, then removing the ice that subsequently forms, leaving the alcohol because alcohol does not freeze along with water.

"The beer has a viscous quality to it, due to the special freeze fermentation method we use to produce such a high alcoholic beer," says Brewmeister brewer Jon MacKenzie.

MacKenzie runs Brewmeister, which is located on the estate of Kincardine Castle about 25 miles outside of Aberdeen, Scotland. He, along with a few friends and fellow brewers, started Brewmeister in the summer of 2011 after becoming inspired from a road trip to western Scotland.

The beer will retail at the festival next month for £5 (roughly $8) for a 35-milliliter serving size, or 1.18 fluid ounces, and is meant to be sipped like brandy. But if you had the stacks to drop on a few bottles, you could chug those sum'bitches. Brewmeister ships all over the world and Christmas is coming, think about getting a bottle for a beer snob.

Brewmeister makes two other flavors: Ten and Blonde, both of which sit at 10.1 percent and 4 percent ABV, respectively.
