Food Network Star Casting in Miami
|You can have your arm around Giada, too....|
They're looking for chefs (both professional and amateur) who have a "captivating personality" and are at the "top of their culinary game." According to the contest rules, anyone 18 or older and a legal resident of the United States can apply, as long as they're not hosting their own food-related program or have run for political office in the past year (making this a bad alternative career choice for either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney). You also must be in good physical and mental health and be prepared to film the show for a six- to eight-week period from January 15 to March 31, 2013. (See complete rules here.)
Competitors are placed in teams captained by Bobby Flay, Alton Brown, and Giada DeLaurentiis. The winner receives an offer from Food Network to host his or her own cooking show. We figure just having Giada show us how to shuck our corn and pound our cutlets would be prize enough.
You must fill out the online application at foodnetworkstarcasting.com prior to attending the open call. You'll also be asked to bring a resumé and two photos of yourself. If you can't make the casting, you can also submit a video for consideration.
